Hoge to feature on ‘Australian Story’ tonight
Brisbane author Robert Hoge will feature on tonight’s episode of ABC TV’s Australian Story.
Hoge, who was born with deformed legs and a large tumour covering his face, has recently published his memoir, Ugly (Hodder), in which he talks about the operations he underwent as a child to correct his deformities, and his decision during adolescene not to continue with surgery that could have had life-threatening consequences.
Ugly was one of the bestsellers at the recent Brisbane Writers Festival. You can read a review of the book here.
Adelaide author Hannah Kent was also recently featured on Australia Story, appearing on the program in July to talk about the research behind her novel Burial Rites (Picador).
You can see a preview of Hoge’s Australian Story episode here and watch Kent’s episode here.
