Random House launches website, app for crime and thrillers

Random House Australia has launched a website devoted to crime and thriller books.

The new site, which went live in early March, features news, reviews, author interviews, staff recommendations and other content focussing on crime fiction, true crime and thrillers.

The site currently sends readers back to the main Random House website when they click on a particular title or post. Random House marketing and publicity director Brett Osmond told Books+Publishing that the site ‘is integrated with the main site to maximise SEO and to allow readers of crime to explore other genres, something we know they actively do’.

While the site is aimed at local crime and thriller readers, Osmond said the Random House ANZ team will be working closely with Random House UK’s crime community DeadGood to ‘capitalise on their great content, experience and development plans’.

The site also includes a crime and thrillers Facebook page, a Google+ circle, a monthly enewsletter and a crime blog. A crime app will launch in the next few weeks, and there are plans for an ‘expanded advertising campaign and crime blogger outreach program’, said Osmond, who added that further ‘genre communities’ are likely to be rolled out in the future.
