NSW library to run ‘I Hate this Book’ book club
Shoalhaven City Library in New South Wales is running a book club entitled ‘I Hate this Book’, reports the South Coast Register.
According to the Shoalhaven City Council website, the event, which will be held at the Nowra Library on 22 May, will comprise a ‘colourful panel discussion … all about books that didn’t quite cut it’. Shoalhaven City Library events manager Robin Sharpe told the South Coast Register: ‘Libraries carry such a huge range of books, and often people feel pressured into reading things they think they should like. As anyone who is in a book club knows, reactions to the same book can be poles apart. This night is a fun opportunity for people to let fly about the books they hated and why.’
The event will include an introduction by comedian and author Xavier Toby, and a panel discussion with former librarian Lyn Hawkins and Shoalhaven City Council director of corporate and community services Craig Milburn.
