Myers made Europe head of Amazon Publishing
Former Waterstones managing director Dominic Myers has become the head of Amazon Publishing in Europe, reports the Bookseller. Myers has a brief to launch new European offices, and will be charged with ‘managing Amazon’s publishing operations in the UK and Germany, as well as [its] expansion plans’. Vice president of Amazon Publishing Jeff Belle commended Myers’ ‘deep retail and book industry experience’ and noted that he will be based at Amazon’s Luxembourg headquarters. Myers’ appointment coincides with the launch of Amazon’s Kindle First program in the UK, which offers customers access to Amazon Publishing titles one month ahead of their official release dates. It means customers can get one featured book—chosen by Amazon Publishing editors—for 99p (A$1.85) each month. For more information, click here.
