Aotearoa Māori Book Awards finalists announced

In New Zealand, 16 finalists in Massey University’s Ngā Kupu Ora Aotearoa Māori Book Awards have been announced. The awards, which include categories for arts, biography and history, fiction, nonfiction and te reo Māori, were launched in 2009 to formally recognise Māori literature. ‘It is heartening to see such a strong line-up of finalists and also a growth in the number of publishers,’ said Massey University associate professor Te Kani Kingi.
