Williams joins Copyright Agency board

Former News Limited CEO Kim Williams has been appointed as a director of the Copyright Agency board, replacing former media executive Brian Johns.

Copyright Agency chair Sandy Grant said in a statement that Williams was ‘a welcome addition to the Board’. ‘He has successfully led a wide range of media and arts organisations, such as Musica Viva Australia, Foxtel, the Australian Film Commission, the Sydney Opera House Trust and News Limited.’

Grant thanked Johns—‘one of our longest serving directors’—for his ‘13-year commitment to the agency—including six years as Chair’. ‘Brian chaired and championed the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund which to date has provided $15.7m to Australia’s writing and arts sectors. His legacy also includes the landmark website, Reading Australia.’

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, journalist and author Helen O’Neill was appointed to the Copyright Agency board in November last year. To see the current list of board members, click here.
