Van Tiggelen appointed editor of ‘Meanjin’ in 2016, ‘influential Australians’ to guest edit in 2015

Journalist John van Tiggelen has been appointed editor of Melbourne-based literary journal Meanjin from February 2016.

Van Tiggelen, who has previously worked as a staff writer and editor at the Monthly and staff writer at Fairfax’s the Good Weekend, will replace outgoing editor Zora Sanders.

Louise Adler, CEO of Melbourne University Publishing, which publishes Meanjin, said she was ‘delighted’ with the appointment, describing van Tiggelen as an ‘experienced magazine editor’ and ‘superb writer with a very broad range of interests, and an impressive contact book’. ‘His promise to readers is that Meanjin will publish the finest writers and will always be capable of surprise,’ she said.

In 2015, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Meanjin, each issue will be edited by an ‘influential Australian’, including publisher and editor Hilary McPhee and vice chancellor of the University of Melbourne Glyn Davis. The first edition of Meanjin will also be republished.
