Patterson the most borrowed author as lending drops in UK libraries
James Patterson was the most borrowed author in UK libraries in 2014 according to data from the Public Lending Right, reports the Bookseller. This is the eighth year in a row that Patterson has topped the list. The most borrowed title in 2014 was Dan Brown’s Inferno (Bantam), which was loaned 65,471 times. Jamie Oliver’s Save With Jamie (Michael Joseph) was the most borrowed nonfiction title and the only nonfiction title in the top 100. In related news, the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy reported last year that the number of people borrowing books from UK libraries has halved since 1997, with loan rates also falling.
