Booktopia opens new headquarters and distribution centre

Booktopia officially opened its 10,000 square metre headquarters and distribution centre in Homebush, Sydney, this week, to coincide with the company’s 11th birthday.

The headquarters includes offices, an author signing room and a TV recording studio. The distribution centre, which uses automated packing machines, aims to ship more than three million books this year. Five hundred and thirty thousand copies of 81,000 titles are already in stock.

The new headquarters, which houses Booktopia’s 90 staff, has been in operation since July last year, but automated packing only began in the lead-up to Christmas.

The headquarters was officially opened by MP Craig Laundy at the company’s 11th birthday party on 18 February, attended by over 200 people. Speakers included Booktopia editorial director Caroline Baum, author Michael Robotham and HarperCollins CEO James Kellow.
