Melbourne Cricket Club Library expands online services

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) Library has replaced its library management system with Softlink’s Australian-based cloud-hosting service, Liberty. The new service provides online access to the library’s extensive collection of more than 200,000 sporting resources.

‘Whether it is books about cricket, football, golf or even Melbourne history, our patrons will be able to receive updates to let them know when new resources that fit their interest come into the library,’ said MCC librarian David Studham in a statement. Studham said it was also important for the MCC library ‘to improve user functionality, share resources with Libraries Australia’ and ‘to move to a more standard cataloguing method’.

The MCC Library was founded in 1873 and servies as a reference library for MCC members, their guests, the media, researchers and the general public. The library houses resources relating to national and international cricket, Australian football, the Olympic Games and other sports.
