HarperCollins signs new terms deal with Amazon
HarperCollins has a signed a new terms deal with Amazon for the sale of its books, reports the New York Times. HarperCollins said in a statement that it had ‘reached an agreement with Amazon and our books will continue to be available on the Amazon print and digital platforms’. In March, HarperCollins’ negotiations with Amazon reportedly stalled. An Amazon spokesperson said at the time that Amazon had ‘offered Harper the same terms for a contract that Simon & Schuster, Hachette and Macmillan have all recently agreed to’. According to the New York Times, Hachette’s final terms agreement gave the publisher ‘control over most of its pricing but offered incentives to sell at lower prices’, while Amazon was given ‘increased co-op funds, the payments for placement on the retailer’s website’.
