Jonasson’s UK publisher pursued over unpaid royalties

Hachette US and Swedish writer Jonas Jonasson have begun legal proceedings against the UK publisher of Jonasson’s bestselling book The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared over alleged unpaid royalties, reports the Bookseller. Hachette, whose imprint Hyperion owns world English rights to Jonasson’s book, said that legal proceedings will begin on 24 April in the High Court of Justice in London. According to the Bookseller, Jonasson received only a ‘small amount’ in payments for his book, which has sold over 500,000 print copies and 700,000 ebooks in the UK since its publication in 2012. All four of Hesperus Press’ UK staff have since resigned.
