The Victorian government has allocated new funding to libraries in its 2015-16 state budget.
In addition to the $55.4 million to support a major redevelopment of the State Library of Victoria (SLV), which was announced prior to the budget, the SLV will also receive $1.5 million to ‘respond to growing and changing demand for services and to maintain delivery of core services’.
The government has also allocated $5.4 million to continue the Living Libraries infrastructure program and the Premier’s Reading Challenge.
