Monash University to stop offering publishing and editing courses
Monash University in Melbourne will no longer offer its postgraduate courses in publishing and editing, citing a fall in demand.
The current semester was the last to accept new students in its publishing and editing courses, which include the 18-month Master of Publishing and Editing, as well as the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Publishing and Editing. The current courses will be taught out for enrolled students.
‘Universities change their course offerings from time to time—especially when demand for courses changes in response to broader sector changes,’ a Monash spokesperson told Books+Publishing. ‘The publishing and editing sector is obviously continuing to change rapidly.’
The spokesperson said the university will consider including elements of the publishing and editing courses in other postgraduate courses. Monash’s publishing and editing program was first offered in 1996.
