Hachette named Publisher of the Year at 2015 Leading Edge Books Conference

A number of awards were presented at this year’s Leading Edge Books Conference in Melbourne on 16 May.

Hachette was named Publisher of the Year, breaking Allen & Unwin’s five-year winning streak in this award.

Brisbane’s Avid Reader Bookshop was named Bookstore of the Year. Also shortlisted for this award were: Dillons Bookshop in Adelaide, Potts Point Bookshop in Sydney, and the Avenue Bookstore and Readings in Melbourne.

The award for Best Business Idea was presented to Tracey Challis from Ulysses Bookstore in Melbourne. Challis received the award for implementing order forms for school events on the online ticketing website TryBooking.

The awards were presented at a dinner at the State Library of Victoria. The dinner also included presentations from author Steve Toltz and musician and former politician Peter Garrett.
