Krien wins British Sports Book New Writer Award

Anna Krien has won the Cross British Sports Book ‘New Writer of the Year’ Award for her book Night Games: Sex, Power and a Journey into the Dark Heart of Sport (Black Inc.).

Krien was chosen from a shortlist of six that included: Driven (Toby Vincent, Moreton Street Books), Finding My Feet (Claire Lomas, Claire Lomas Books), Salt, Sweat, Tears: The Men Who Rowed the Ocean (Adam Rackley, Viking), Sol Campbell (Simon Astaire, Spellbinding Media) and Stuck in a Moment: The Ballad of Paul Vaessen (Stewart Taylor, GCR Books).

This is the second UK sports prize awarded to Krien for Night Games, after she won the William Hill Sports Book Award in November 2014.

Established in 2002, the British Sports Book Awards were created to ‘highlight the most outstanding sports books of the previous calendar year, to showcase their merits and to enhance their reputation and profile’. To view the winners in each category, visit the awards website here.
