‘Radar Gunner’ wins Chief Minister’s NT History Book Award

Dick Dakeyne’s self-published book Radar Gunner has won the 2015 Chief Minister’s Northern Territory History Book Award.

Radar Gunner tells of Dakeyne’s experience as a member of the Royal Australian Air Force flying over Japanese territory during World War II.

The book was chosen from a shortlist of three, which also included: Warning: The Story of Cyclone Tracy (Sophie Cunningham, Text) and A History Written in Metal (Steven Farram, Historical Society of the Northern Territory).

The Chief Minister’s Northern Territory History Book Award is administered by the NT Library and is presented annually to ‘the most significant book on Northern Territory history published in the preceding year’. For more information, visit the website here.
