Russian publishing house misattributing Western journalists as book authors
A Russian publishing house has printed a number of books about Vladimir Putin listing prominent Western journalists as the authors, reports the Guardian. Authors Luke Harding, Edward Lucas and Donald Jensen each have books attributed to them in a series called ‘Project Putin’ by Moscow publisher Algoritm. Harding is listed as the author of Nobody But Putin, which is advertised as ‘developing the idea’ of his previously published book Mafia State. Harding said his publisher Guardian Books will investigate the matter and consider legal action. Jensen and Lucas claim the books published under their names are a compilation of commentary previously published elsewhere. Algoritm director Sergei Nikolayev said prior permission had not been sought from Harding, but declined to comment on Lucas and Jensen’s claims. In April, the US placed Russia on the priority watch list in its annual report on the world’s worst copyright violators.
