National Book Award 2015 shortlists announced
In the US, the shortlists for the 2015 National Book Awards have been announced in the categories of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and young people’s literature. On the fiction shortlist are: Refund: Stories (Karen E Bender, Counterpoint US); The Turner House (Angela Flournoy, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt); Fates and Furies (Lauren Groff, William Heinemann); Fortune Smiles: Stories (Adam Johnson, Doubleday); and A Little Life (Hanya Yanagihara, Picador). Shortlists in the other three categories are available here. The award, which is open to books written by a US citizen, includes a cash prize of US$10,000 (A$13,694) for the winner in each category and US$1000 (A$1369) for each finalist. The winners will be announced on 18 November.
