IBBY NZ has selected four titles for the 2016 International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Honour Book List. They are:
- Writing: Singing Home the Whale (Mandy Hager, Random House NZ)

- Translation (English): Detective Gordon: The First Case (Ulf Nilsson, translated by Julia Marshall, Gecko Press)
- Translation (Te Reo): Ngā Kī (Sacha Cotter, trans by Kawata Teepa, Huia).
The IBBY Honour Book List is compiled biennially by the international sections of IBBY, with each country selecting books published in the previous two years.
The 2016 list will be displayed at the 2016 IBBY Congress in Auckland and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, as well as travelling to other countries.
The Australian Honour Books were announced in October.
