Amazon revenue up 20% in 2015

Amazon’s fourth-quarter financial results show net sales increased to US$107bn (A$151.3bn) in 2015, a 20% increase on 2014, although net income remained marginal at just US$596m (A$842.52m) for the year. In 2014 Amazon made a net loss of US$340.68m ($481.59m). The New York Times reports that the fourth-quarter revenue of US$35.7bn (A$50.47bn) fell just short of the US$35.93bn (A$50.79bn) expected by analysts. The price of Amazon shares fell on the release of the results, finishing at US$587 (A$829.80) at the close of trade in the US on Friday, down US$48.35 ($68.35) or 7.6%. Amazon said it expects sales growth of between 17%-28% in the first quarter of 2016 year-on-year.
