MUP to publish Bill Shorten’s first book

Melbourne University Publishing will publish Australian Labor Party leader Bill Shorten’s first book, The Common Good, on 2 May.

The book is Shorten’s ‘reflections on the values that have shaped him and underpin his vision for a modern Australia’.

‘He looks back on the emphasis on education and social justice in his childhood in suburban Melbourne, and his many years spent empowering tens of thousands of Australians in workplaces across our continent,’ said the publisher. ‘In this thoughtful narrative, Bill Shorten provides a unique insight into how a Labor government will shape Australia’s future for the better, for all Australians.’

The publisher said ‘it was always intended that publication would be in a pre-election context’.
