Scholastic opens library at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital

Scholastic Australia has opened a new children’s library at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

This is Scholastic’s third ‘Book Bunker’ library, with two others located at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney and the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. The libraries are owned by Scholastic, stocked with books from Scholastic and other publishers and run by volunteer librarians.

The new library at the Royal Children’s Hospital has a collection of more than 8000 books, which patients can browse from their bedside using Softlink technology or by visiting the library in person.

Scholastic said its goal is to have a Book Bunker library established at every major children’s hospital in Australia. For more information, click here.
