Affirm Press signs exclusive international agency deal with Kaplan/DeFiore

Affirm Press has announced a deal with Linda Kaplan of New York-based translation licensing agency Kaplan/DeFiore Rights to exclusively sell rights to Affirm Press titles internationally.

Affirm publishing director Martin Hughes said the time was right for the publisher to be represented overseas. ‘With our expansion over the last three years we’ve already built a significant bank of content for which we hold world rights, yet with the rapid publishing and sales growth in Australia we’ve found little time to focus on rights sales,’ said Hughes. ‘Partnering with a quality agency such as Kaplan/DeFiore made perfect sense.’

Kaplan has almost 30 years’ experience in publishing, and prior to co-founding Kaplan/DeFiore Rights she was VP, director of subsidiary rights for Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group. Authors Kaplan has represented include Martha Stewart, George Bush, Barack Obama, Deepak Chopra and Gillian Flynn.

The deal comes into effect from 1 June.
