The ‘Saturday Paper’ announces new essay prize
The Saturday Paper and cosmetics company Aesop have announced a new $15,000 ‘major’ essay award, named in honour of the late author Donald Horne.
The Horne Prize will be awarded in late December for an essay of up to 3000 words, addressing some part of the theme ‘Australian life’. The winning essay will be published in the Saturday Paper on 24 December.
The judges for the award are the Saturday Paper editor Erik Jensen, Aesop general manager of retail and customer service Suzanne Santos, anthropologist and geographer Marcia Langton, and authors David Malouf and David Marr.
The award is open to all Australian writers. Entries open on 6 August and close on 31 October. A shortlist will be announced on 30 November. For more information, click here.
