Apple releases exclusive enhanced ebook of ‘Game of Thrones’

Apple has released an exclusive enhanced ebook edition of George R R Martin’s A Game of Thrones to mark the 20th anniversary of the novel’s first publication, reports the Guardian. The Apple iBooks edition offers ‘a world of additional content’, including interactive character maps and timelines, family trees, annotations and audio clips, as well as an extract from the forthcoming novel The Winds of Winter, which had previously been published on Martin’s website but is now only available in the new edition. Enhanced ebook editions of subsequent books in the series will be released over the next few months. ‘We’re now entering a new period in the history of publishing,’ said Martin on the announcement of the new edition. ‘The digital book gives readers the ability to experience all this rich secondary material that had not been possible before … Anything that confuses you, anything you want to know more about, it’s right there at your fingertips.’
