Marie-Louise Ayres has been appointed as director-general of the National Library of Australia for a five-year term.
Ayres has served in senior management roles at the NLA since 2002, most recently leading the library’s online archive, Trove.
Ayres will begin in the role on 2 March 2017. She replaces Anne-Marie Schwirtlich. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, in January the NLA announced Schwirtlich would be stepping down as director-general after serving in the position since 2011.
