‘The Girl on the Train’ tops US libraries’ most-borrowed lists
In the US, Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train (Black Swan) has been identified as the most checked-out book at eight of 14 metropolitan libraries surveyed by news publication Quartz.
Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates (Text) and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo (Vermilion) both topped several libraries’ most-borrowed nonfiction list, while Jeff Kinney’s ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ series (Puffin) dominated the most-borrowed children’s book lists.
Quartz noted that some books’ popularity were driven by library initiatives, with Seasons of the Witch by David Talbot (Free Press) reaching the top of San Francisco Public Library’s most-borrowed books list after the book was selected for its ‘One City One Book’ program.
