Byron Writers Festival unveils StoryBoard Bus
The Byron Writers Festival has launched its StoryBoard Bus, a travelling creative writing program that will take authors and illustrators into schools across NSW’s Northern Rivers region.
The bus, which features artwork by Victorian artist and animator Justine Wallace, was unveiled by 2017 Children’s Laureate Leigh Hobbs at Byron Bay Public School on 28 April.
Over the next three years, StoryBoard will run more than 100 free school visits and masterclasses with authors including Tristan Bancks, Samantha Turnbull, Lucas Proudfoot, Zanni Louise, Sarah Armstrong, Oliver Phommavanh, Jesse Blackadder and others.
As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the StoryBoard Bus was announced last year with an initial $50,000 grant from Arts NSW, and ran a 60-school pilot program. In January this year, Byron Writers Festival announced it had received a $300,000 Catalyst grant from the federal government to expand the reach of the initiative.
