German company acquires Pubnet, PubEasy

German service provider MVB Marketing, a subsidiary of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association Börsenverein, has purchased the US bookshop ordering systems Pubnet and PubEasy from NPD Group, reports Publishers Weekly.

MVB Marketing, which owns Germany’s books-in-print database, will take ownership of the systems from 1 July and plans to update their technology in 2019.

‘With the purchasing of the ordering systems Pubnet and PubEasy, MVB has taken a leading position among the service providers in two of the biggest markets for books in the world (the US and Germany),’ said MVB CEO Ronald Schild. ‘Both offers are well-known and have an excellent market position. The technical proximity to our existing German IBU business makes the acquisition the perfect step in terms of our development strategy, with which we want to expand beyond the boundaries of German-speaking countries.’

NPD Group acquired Pubnet and PubEasy earlier this year as part of its purchase of Nielsen BookScan.
