Thompson steps down as PRH New Zealand MD

Penguin Random House (PRH) New Zealand managing director Margaret Thompson will leave the company on 28 July.

Thompson was appointed to the role in 2014 after serving as MD of Penguin New Zealand since 2005. As part of the new management structure, PRH NZ publishing director Debra Millar, marketing and publicity director Siobhan Clare and sales director Carrie Welch will all report directly to PRH ANZ CEO Julie Burland.

Burland said Thompson’s ‘contributions to Penguin Random House are many and indelible, having been responsible for discovering, developing, and selling many of our most successful Australian and New Zealand authors’.

‘Margaret has made a unique contribution to our business, and she has been an outstanding advocate of books and reading in New Zealand,’ said Burland. ‘She will be deeply missed as a colleague and leader.’
