PRH announces new $20,000 prize for an unpublished manuscript

Penguin Random House (PRH) Australia has announced a new literary prize for an unpublished manuscript, worth $20,000, to mark the formation of the publisher’s new literary division.

The Penguin Random House Australia Literary Prize is open to all Australian residents aged 18 and above, with entrants asked to provide a synopsis, pitch document and full manuscript.

PRH Literary publishing director Ben Ball said the publisher will work with Leading Edge Books as judges. ‘This prize offers aspiring and diverse writers from all across the country a chance to connect with people who can celebrate their work. I know we’ll be starting the careers of this country’s future stars,’ said Ball.

Entries close on 20 October, with the winner announced on 9 February 2018 ahead of the winning book’s publication in early 2019.
