Fox wins Walkley Women’s Leadership in Media Award

Catherine Fox has won the Walkley Foundation’s Women’s Leadership in Media Award for her nonfiction book Stop Fixing Women (NewSouth), as well as articles for the ABC and the Australian.

Fox was named the winner at the Walkley Mid-Year Awards Celebration in Sydney on 26 July.

Other award-winners include Kate Hennessy, who won the Walkley-Pascall Award for arts criticism forThe Drover’s Wife review—plot twist leaves Australian classic spinning on its axis’ (the Guardian), and John Shand, who won the inaugural Arts Journalism award for ‘Meaning It: Truth, Trump Universality and Cultural Amnesia’ (SMH)

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the Walkley Foundation has taken over the administration of the Pascall Prize for arts criticism, which was last awarded in 2014.
