MidnightSun sells Swedish rights for ‘A Cardboard Palace’

MidnightSun Publishing has sold Swedish rights for Allayne L Webster’s middle-grade novel A Cardboard Palace to B. Wahlströms Bokförlag.

This is the publisher’s first middle-grade book to sell overseas.

Publishing director Anna Solding told Books+Publishing that A Cardboard Palace, which ‘follows the struggle of a young boy, Jorge, to escape a life of thievery and poverty in modern Paris’, is ‘well-suited to the international stage’, and is attracting more interest across Europe.

The sale is the result of a meeting between Solding and Swedish publisher Marta Hedener at the Australia Council’s Visiting International Publishers program in May this year.

A Cardboard Palace will be translated and published under its Swedish title Kartongslottet in April 2018.
