QWC’s #8WordStory campaign attracts over 10,000 entries
The Queensland Writers Centre’s (QWC) #8WordStory campaign has ‘surpassed all expectations with over 10,000 entries submitted’, the organisation has announced.
QWC invited members of the public to the submit stories of up to eight words for the campaign, which ran from 30 October to 26 November. Each week, 20 successful stories were selected by author Nick Earls and published on digital billboards across Brisbane, as well as on QWC’s social media.
‘We have been completely overwhelmed by the number and quality of entries—from people of all ages and walks of life,’ said QWC CEO Katie Woods. Among the entrants were New York Times bestselling authors, Australian award-winning writers, Australian and international publishing houses, the Queensland Police Service and hundreds of school children.
The campaign was delivered through Queensland billboard company goa’s community partnerships program.
