Fiction—Allen & Unwin has sold German rights to The Fighting Season (Bram Connolly) to Festa Verlag. Brio has acquired world rights to The Drovers Wives (Ryan O’Neill) and world rights to Sisters of No Mercy (Vincent Silk, see news). Hachette Australia has sold UK and Commonwealth (ex ANZ) rights to A Kiss from Mr Fitzgerald, Her Mother’s Secret, The Paris Seamstress and The French Photographer (all Natasha Lester) to Sphere (see news.) Text has sold Spanish and Hebrew rights to The Bookshop of the Broken Hearted (Robert Hillman) to Suma Internacional and Tchelet, respectively; simplified Chinese rights to The Book of Dirt (Bram Presser) to Kuwei; French rights to The Cage (Lloyd Jones) to Editions Jacqueline Chambon; and Turkish and simplified Chinese rights to The Best of Adam Sharp (Graeme Simsion) to Pegasus and China South Booky Culture Media, respectively.

Children’s—Black Inc. has sold North American rights to How to Win a Nobel Prize (Barry Marshall & Lorna Hendry) to Kane Miller. Golvan Arts Management has sold world rights to The Little Stowaway (Vicki Bennet) to Scholastic Australia. Penguin Random House Australia has sold the film option to The Shark Caller (Dianne Wolfer) to Brown Sugar Apple Grunt Productions (see news.) Scholastic Australia has sold Czech rights to the first three books in ‘The Bad Guys’ series (all Aaron Blabey); simplified Chinese rights to Ruben (Bruce Whatley); Greek rights to The Very Cranky Bear and The Very Hungry Bear (both Nick Bland); and Canadian English-language rights and Canadian French-language rights to Always (Anna Pignataro). Walker Books Australia has sold German rights to Once Upon a Small Rhinoceros (Meg McKinlay, illus by Leila Rudge) to Thienemann-Esslinger Verlag GmbH; and Japanese rights to Demolition and Construction (Sally Sutton & Brian Lovelock) to Fukuinkan Shoten Publisher Inc.

Fiction—Echo Publishing has acquired world rights to Blanche d’Alpuget’s fiction backlist via Jeanne Ryckmans at The Cameron Creswell Agency (see news.) Text has acquired world rights to a untitled novel by Toni Jordan.
Nonfiction—Black Inc. has acquired ANZ rights to The Beginning of Everything: The Year I Lost My Mind and Found Myself (Andrea J Buchanan) from Pegasus via Linda Biagi.
Children’s—Walker Books Australia has acquired ANZ rights to Dream Riders: Frankie and Dream Riders: Storm (Jesse Blackadder & Laura Bloom) via Zeitgeist Media; and world rights to the following titles: Finch (Penny Matthews); Ollie and Augustus (Gabriel Evans); Dry to Dry: The Story of Kakadu National Park (Pamela Freeman, illus by Liz Anelli); Seree’s Story (Irma Gold, illus Wayne Harris); and The Amazing Meals of Martha Maloney (Margaret Wild, illus by Donna Rawlins).
