Aussie, NZ writers make shortlists for UK Romantic Novel Awards

Australian author Janet Glover and New Zealand author Soraya M Lane have both been included in the 2018 Romantic Novel Awards (RONA) shortlists, administered by the UK Romantic Novelists’ Association.

Glover’s novel Wedding Bells by the Creek (self-published) was one of five titles nominated for the RONA Rose Award for shorter romantic novels, while Lane’s book Wives of War (Lake Union Publishing) was shortlisted in the historical romantic novel category.

Shortlists were also announced in five other categories: contemporary romantic novel, epic romantic novel, paranormal or speculative romantic novel, romantic comedy novel and young adult romantic novel.

This year’s category award winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 5 March, and from these an overall winner will be selected for the £5000 (A$8833) Romantic Novel of the Year.

Facilitated by the UK’s Romantic Novelists’ Association, the awards recognise excellence in romantic fiction. Previous winners include Joanna Trollope, Freya North and Jojo Moyes.
