Scott appointed chair of SWF
Mark Scott AO has been appointed chair of the Sydney Writers’ Festival (SWF) board, beginning on 15 February.
Scott, who joined the SWF board in July 2016, is replacing chair and long-term board member Deena Shiff, who has been chair for the past six years. Over Shiff’s tenure as chair, SWF grew its program and audiences, and broadened its sources of financial support through private and corporate donor programs.
Scott is currently the secretary of the NSW Department of Education and was managing director of the ABC between 2006 and 2016.
Scott said, ‘It is a great honour to follow in [Shiff’s] footsteps. I am confident with the committed and distinguished Board, supporting a talented and energetic management team, we have many great festivals ahead of us. Audiences love the Sydney Writers’ Festival—it is one of the great events in the national cultural calendar’.
SWF runs from 30 April to 6 May at Sydney’s Carriageworks and the Seymour Centre.
