SLV awarded for events industry excellence

State Library Victoria (SLV) has won awards in three categories at the Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) 2017 Victoria Industry Awards, which recognise excellence in the events industry.

For the second consecutive year, SLV won the ‘unique event venue without accommodation’ category, which is open to historic venues, art galleries, museums and performing arts centres across the state.

In addition, SLV’s venue sales team leader Emma Davis was named salesperson of the year, while venue technical officer Ritchie Plunkett was presented the Young MEA (YMEA) future leader award.

SLV is now a finalist for MEA’s national awards, which will be presented in Adelaide on 8 May.

As part of the $88.1 million Vision 2020 redevelopment, SLV is opening new and refurbished facilities over the coming year, with the Isabella Fraser Room—a purpose-built function room with a new production kitchen—opening this spring and the Ian Potter Queen’s Hall reopening as a special events space in 2019.
