Connaughton announced as editor of ‘Saturday Paper’
Writer and broadcaster Maddison Connaughton has been appointed editor of the Saturday Paper.
Connaughton has worked most recently as features editor at Vice, and is a finalist in this year’s Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year Awards for her reporting from the Syrian border. Her work has appeared in the Saturday Paper, Vox, Monocle, the Age, the Australian, where she was also a video producer, and Broadsheet, where she was assistant editor.
Saturday Paper editor-in-chief Erik Jensen said he was pleased with the appointment. ‘More than four years after the Saturday Paper launched, we are expanding our vision and purpose, and Maddison will be a key part of that. I can’t wait to see everything she brings to the masthead.’
Connaughton said she was ‘so excited and, honestly, humbled’ to take on the role. ‘I see this as an opportunity to find new audiences for the paper and to foster a whole new generation of writers who think deeply, and differently, about the shifts that are reshaping Australia and our region,’ said Connaughton.
Connaughton will commence the position on 22 June.
