NT Literary Awards 2018 winners announced
The winners of this year’s Northern Territory Literary Awards have been announced.
The winners in each category are:
Zip Print Short Story Award ($1000)
- ‘The Virgin Mary and Katrina Sparks’ by Mhairi Duncan
NT Writers’ Centre Poetry Award ($1000)
- ‘What to do with the foam in my mouth’ by Johanna Bell
Charles Darwin University Creative Nonfiction Award ($500)
- ‘Of Eyes, Astronauts and Ants’ by Lolla Stewart
Charles Darwin University Essay Award ($1000)
- ‘“Unviable” languages? Colonisation, assimilation, and bilingual education in the Northern Territory’ by Amy Claire Thomas
Kath Manzie Youth Award ($600)
- ‘Vanilla’ by Ellaby Kenneth
Flash Fiction Award ($600)
- ‘Virginia Woolf would be proud’ by Johanna Bell
Brown’s Mart Theatre Award ($1000)
- ‘Cusp’ by Mary Anne Butler.
The NT Literary Awards celebrate the unpublished work of established and emerging writers in the Northern Territory and are presented annually by the Northern Territory Library.
The winners were announced at a ceremony in Alice Springs on 24 July. As well as prize money, winners receive an annual membership to the NT Writers Centre and free admission to a masterclass.
