Bowers to participate in UK exchange program Intersect
Writer and multidisciplinary artist Candy Bowers has been announced as one of the 2018 participants in the British Council’s inaugural UK exchange program, Intersect.
Bowers is one of three culturally diverse Australian arts professionals who will travel to the UK in September 2018. UK participants will visit Australia in early 2019.
This year’s program will focus on people from the performing arts, visual arts, literature and screen sectors. Participants will be encouraged to develop their international networks, and to mentor and collaborate with international colleagues.
The initiative was developed through stakeholder consultation, which included workshops facilitated by Diversity Arts Australia and Footscray Community Arts Centre.
As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Intersect was launched in June to ‘to strengthen diversity and opportunity in a place where power lies—among those who decide whose work is seen, what is seen, how it is seen and who sees it’.
