Booktopia to offer distribution services

Australian retailer Booktopia has announced it will be the exclusive Australian distributor for German-based Thieme Medical Publishers, under a new distribution division.

The Australian retailer set up Booktopia Publisher Services (BPS) in late 2017 to offer Australian and international publishers book distribution and wholesale services into the Australian and New Zealand marketplace. Booktopia says ‘a number’ of other publishers have recently signed up to BPS, and it expects more will follow over the coming year.

‘Booktopia is a $120 million book business,’ said Booktopia CEO Tony Nash. ‘The decision to launch BPS is in the best interest of book buying customers. Having access to stock that is situated in Australia is critical to maintain the highest level of service to customers.

‘It is also important to booksellers to know that they can access stock from the Booktopia Distribution Centre at wholesale rates. Bookstores have been buying stock from Booktopia for years and it is good timing to launch BPS so they can set up accounts and trade with us to help serve the Australian book buying public,’ Nash added.
