RiP Melinda Beaumont

Simon & Schuster Australia national account manager Melinda Beaumont has died, aged 46.

The team at Simon & Schuster writes:

‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague, dear friend, passionate book lover and generous spirit, Melinda Beaumont. She was an inspiration to countless people as she fought a brave fight against her cancer, always with a smile and a positive attitude and always thinking of others first.

‘Melinda was of course well-loved and highly regarded among booksellers and publishers, with a career that spanned almost 20 years. She began in 1999 when she joined Pan Macmillan in the role of senior account manager. Her winning attitude and warm personality was quickly recognised and she further developed her passion for books at Hachette, Penguin, Five Mile Press and for the last five years at Simon & Schuster Australia. Melinda was also well known for her inquisitive mind and openness to trying new things, a trait that lead her to work in other industries where she excelled in senior sales roles.

‘In our office Melinda, widely known as M, was most cherished for her down-to-earth attitude, and easy-going and fun-loving nature. She adored dark thrillers, French cheese and was partial to a glass of red wine. We are all heartbroken by her tragic loss and inspired by her zest for life, courage, positivity and caring attitude. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her close family—her husband Dean and her children Summah and Tom—and all of her extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed by many.
