S A Jones’ ‘The Fortress’ sells to US

Natasha Solomun of The Rights Hive has sold North American rights to S A Jones’ novel The Fortress to US-based Erewhon Books, a new independent publisher of speculative fiction.

The Fortress follows a misogynistic businessman who, in order to save is marriage, enters The Fortress, a self-sustaining, utopian city-state that is occupied by all women.

Erewhon president and publisher Liz Gorinsky said of the acquisition: ‘The second I heard the pitch for The Fortress I begged to read it, and I was not for one second disappointed. S A Jones has crafted a compelling and thought-provoking narrative that peers deep into the modern construction of masculinity via a fantastical women-led society and will change the way you think about gendered relations forever.’

The Fortress will be released in the US in the first half of 2020, as part of Erewhon’s inaugural list.
