Wheeler Centre 2019 Hot Desk fellowships announced
The Wheeler Centre has announced the successful applicants for its 2019 Hot Desk Fellowships.
This year, the Wheeler Centre is offering three new fellowships for regional and interstate writers, who will receive a five-week residency at the Norma Redpath Studio in Carlton, a $1000 stipend and an additional $2000 living-away-from-home allowance ($3000 in total), as well as having their travel costs to and from Melbourne paid for.
The three Hot Desk fellows receiving the Norma Redpath Studio residency are:
- Geetha Balakrishnan (fiction, NSW)
- Rebecca Giggs (creative nonfiction, WA)
- Yvette Holt (poetry, NT).
The 21 additional Hot Desk fellows are:

- Hayley Lawson-Smith (playwright fellow).
The fellows each receive $1000 and a desk at the Wheeler Centre for two months. The writing fellowships are supported by the Readings Foundation and the Playwright Hot Desk Fellowship is supported by the Just Pretending theatre group.
