Varuna: Poetry masterclass residency with Vanessa Kirkpatrick
Varuna has announced a six-day residency that allows for all participants to be immersed in the writing and crafting of poetry, aiming to extend and explore creative and critical capacities. There will be a series of three masterclasses, as well as private writing time each day and poetry readings.
Each participant will also receive a one-on-one poetry consultation. Workshops will involve writing exercises and discussions of published poems in a range of poetic styles.
Vanessa Kirkpatrick’s is a qualified teacher and experienced mentor of poetry and creative writing. She has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Sydney and her first collection of poetry, To Catch the Light, won the inaugural John Knight Memorial Poetry Manuscript Prize and was Commended for the 2013 Anne Elder Award.
Applications close 30 April, and the residency will take place from Monday 15 July to Sunday 21 July 2019.
