Australian Reading Hour ambassadors’ books covers revealed

Australian Reading Hour (ARH) has revealed the covers of the five books by its children’s ambassadors being published for this year’s event on 19 September.

The Wiggles Love Books! (Five Mile), Squidge Dibley Destroys History (Mick Elliott, Lothian), Moli Det Bigibigi (Molly the Pig) (Karen Manbulloo, ILF), Billie B Brown and Hey Jack! The Book Buddies (Sally Rippin, HGE) and Funny Kid: Next Level (Matt Stanton, HarperCollins) will be published on 10 September.

Bookstores can order the books via the publisher’s usual distribution channel before the 20 August cut-off date. Libraries can order the books through their Australian library supplier.

ARH is also encouraging adult readers to sign up the Australian Reading Challenge. So far, 116 readers have signed up to the interactive online platform, which allows readers to track their progress towards their reading goal and complete weekly challenges, since it launched on 28 April.

This is the third year of the Australian Reading Hour campaign, which launched in 2017 as a collaboration between the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), the Australian Society of Authors (ASA), the Australian Publishers Association (APA), the Australian Booksellers Association (ABA) and the Copyright Agency.

Booksellers, librarians and teachers interested in organising a reading event are encouraged to register at the Australian Reading Hour website.
