‘Axiomatic’ sold to UK’s Fitzcarraldo Editions

Brow Books has sold UK and Commonwealth rights (ex ANZ) to Maria Tumarkin’s Axiomatic to independent publisher Fitzcarraldo Editions.

Publisher Jacques Testard acquired the book, and Fitzcarraldo will publish Axiomatic in the UK in November 2019. The UK deal follows the sale of North American and Spanish-language rights earlier this year.

Brow Books publisher Sam Cooney said: ‘Fitzcarraldo is a remarkably perfect fit for Axiomatic: anyone who has read this extraordinary book will know that Maria Tumarkin sits very comfortably on Fitzcarraldo’s list alongside contemporary writers like Svetlana Alexievich, Olga Tokarczuk, Claire-Louise Bennett and Ben Lerner. At Brow Books we are in constant admiration for what Fitzcarraldo is doing in the literary world, and we are beyond thrilled that the sharp team there recognise the importance of Maria Tumarkin and of Axiomatic.’

The Australian small press has also recently sold Greek-language rights to Axiomatic to Enipnio publisher Stathis Intzes. Enipnio will translate Turmakin’s book and will publish it in 2020.
