Amazon UK begins releasing weekly sales charts

Amazon UK has this week launched Amazon Charts, a weekly book bestseller list tracking sales and reads of fiction and nonfiction, reports the Bookseller.

Its the first time print and digital sales have been recorded together, as Nielsen BookScan does not track digital-only publications in its bestseller charts.

Amazon Charts comprises top 20 charts for ‘most read’ titles in fiction and nonfiction, including Kindle and Audible data, and top 20 charts for ‘most sold’, which covers books sold, pre-ordered or borrowed each week from Amazon and Audible in physical, ebook and audiobook formats. The online retailer uses data solely from its Amazon.co.uk website.

On the first most read chart, the fiction number one is the Kindle edition of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Bloomsbury/Pottermore), while the nonfiction number one is Michelle Obama’s Becoming (Penguin).

Topping the most sold chart for fiction is And So It Begins by Rachel Abbott (Wildfire) and in nonfiction is The Spy and the Traitor by Ben Macintyre (Penguin).
